Baltimore Fenkil wins 2013 ERSFNA Men's Premier Division Championship
Team Baltimore Fenkil was crowned the 28th Annual Eritrean Sports Festival Men's Premier Division Champions for the 3rd time in 4 years, held in San Diego, California. Team Baltimore was awarded the championship trophy in 2010 Atlanta and 2012 Minnesota. Baltimore swept the group stage matches on its way to winning their group advancing to the Quarter-finals as a #2 seed.
In the Quarter-finals, Baltimore was matched up with a young but strong and talented Norway team who showed tremendous resilience despite the loss of the team's key player to injury in the early rounds. Trailing for much of the game, Baltimore found enough strength to tie the match in the final minutes of regulation. Both team played to a scoreless extra time. Finally, Baltimore was victorious in a penalty shootout advancing to the Semi-finals for the second year in a row.
The next challenge for team Baltimore was a match up with team Houston, in a rematch of last year's finals. Both teams played a highly competitive match in a semi-finals game that could have gone either way. Once again Baltimore was victorious by a score of 1-0 and securing a spot in the championship game.
In the finals, Baltimore played a resilient Santa Clara Team in a rematch of their group stage play. For much of the game Baltimore was in control in winning the match 4-2 to earn a well-deserved third championship trophy.
